GuiderAggressiveness

Property

CCDCamera.GuiderAggressiveness (Integer)

Syntax

CCDCamera.GuiderAggressiveness [= Integer]

Remarks

Sets the guider aggressiveness; the valid range is 0-10.  This setting controls how much of the detected guide star position error that MaxIm DL will attempt to guide out.  A setting of 10 tells MaxIm DL to correct for ALL of the detected guide error, but this can lead to guiding instability. A setting of 8 or 9 is recommended.  Setting GuiderAggressiveness to 0 allows you to observe the guide errors, but prevents MaxIm DL from actuating the mount to compensate.

An assignment to GuiderAggressiveness affects guiding in both axes. You can adjust the aggressiveness of each axis independently using the GuiderAggressivenessX and GuiderAggressivenessY properties instead. These also provide finer control since they can be set to fractional values. Note that when the two axes are set differently, GuiderAggressiveness reports the average of the two values, rounded to the nearest integer.

If the current guider is the SBIG w/AO-7, then changing the GuiderAggressiveness property changes the AO-7's aggressiveness, instead of altering the aggressiveness setting on the Guide tab.
