All currently supported releases of Microsoft Windows run their system clocks in Universal Time (UT). MaxIm DL gets the time in UT directly from the operating system. Therefore, if you set your time zone incorrectly when you set the clock, MaxIm DL will get the incorrect time when it captures images.
If you set the system time zone to "(GMT) Greenwich Mean Time: Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London", with the intention of the system clock being in Universal Time (UT), please be sure to turn off the "Automatically adjust clock for daylight savings time" setting. Otherwise you may end up with the system clock being an hour off UT, and this value will be recorded in your FITS headers.
Alternatively, you can set the system time zone to "(GMT) Casablanca, Monrovia", a zone that does not use daylight savings.
Windows can be set to automatically synchronize its real-time clock over the internet; this can be very useful in ensuring an accurate date/time stamp on each image. Alternatively, some GPS units can also provide this capability.
Please note that MaxIm DL will only record the time to the nearest second, unless you first calibrate the shutter delay using the Shutter Latency Measurement feature.
