Unlike CCD sensors, CMOS sensors are subject to fixed pattern noise. Each pixel in a CMOS camera has its own separate readout amplifier, each of which can have slightly different characteristics. CCD cameras do not suffer from this effect because every pixel is read out by a single amplifier (or for large high-speed sensors, a small number of amplifiers).
