The Observatory Control Window may display an error when it is opened, if the ASCOM Platform and associated drivers have not been installed.
MaxIm DL uses the ASCOM Platform, a collection of mainly open-source drivers developed by the astronomical community. In MaxIm DL, ASCOM drivers are used for telescopes, domes, focusers, rotators, and some filter wheels and cameras.
The ASCOM Platform must be installed in order to access ASCOM equipment. In addition, drivers for your specific hardware will need to be installed. Depending on the device, these drivers may come from the manufacturer's web site, or from the ASCOM web site.
