Bob Denny's Office

Welcome to my office! My first home page went on the air in 1994, and I redesigned it only once in the 8 years thereafter. Time for a fresh start. I have precious little time for this, so please be patient while it grows bit by bit over the coming months.

I have a blog now!

My activities are primarily my day job, software design, and my volunteer activities with the local sheriff's office. I also am a pilot and own a light aircraft which I don't fly enough!

I am also the founder of the ASCOM Initiative, a group of companies who are bringing standardized scriptable capabilities to astronomy software.

Law Enforcement

Click for full size imageI also do volunteer work at an average of 100 hours per month for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. About 40% of this time is in the communications center where I work on the radio and answering 9-1-1. The other 60% of my volunteer time is with the Lake Patrol Division as an armed and uniformed officer (I am not certified to work alone, so I always work with a certified deputy). My beat area covers a large area of the Northern part of Maricopa County, including Bartlett Lake, Horseshoe Lake, Seven Springs, and the Mazatzal Wilderness area.

Flying

Baron N300ASI bought this Baron from my dad back in 1986, and have flown it regularly since then. Lately I haven't been flying it as much as I'd like... hopefully my software businesses will pick up a bit and I'll be doing more business travel going forward. I have flown this aircraft well over 1500 hours in all sorts of conditions.

Back in 1998 I spent two weeks flying a very nice DC-3. Check out my scrapbook pages for the DC-3 trip. Don't miss my Diary with Historical Notes either!
